It's not an issue unless you make it an issue. Just set up your doubles on the manifold and make sure everything is square and parallel, then tighten your bands last. They should hold your cylinders wherever you put them. So what if one tank hangs lower than the other? Won't hurt a thing.

There is always Duct Tape.

Peace,
Greg

I know - I use it often myself :) although for diving I usually prefer more permanent options :wink:

Thanks Duckbill;
For me it really is mostly about setting down the tanks - maybe a bit heavily - and having both tanks take their share of the "bump". But as you and others mention, as long as I'm using quality bands that are tightened well it shouldn't be a problem.

I'm still looking for an actual torque number for what "tightened well" is. I'm currently using "gutentight" but given my engine wrenching background I'm thinking band manufacturers might have - or should have - a number for correct torque specs?

Torque is the difference between cheap or earlier model band bending and being unable to turn the nut and get or wait until you come across the same shaped tank.
BECAUSE whilst metal to metal manifolds may have some give face o ring ones have less and when the tanks are different it eats at you and looks stupid and eating at you minimisation is a must.
