The Great Lakes Historical Society Peachman Lake Erie Shipwreck Research Center (GLHS PLESRC) and the Maritime Archaeological Survey Team (MAST) are holding their 2009 GLHS/MAST Nautical Archaeology Workshop and Training this coming weekend (April 18-19) in Vermilion, OH. I've been interested in MAST since hearing Carrie Sowden, Archaeological Director for the PLESRC, speak at ScubaFest a few years ago. I'm going to be taking the Basic course this weekend. This is the prerequisite for being able to join MAST and assist with their shipwreck survey work.

Are any other members of the GLWC going to be in attendance?

I'll be there... not staying overnight or going to the dinner tho'... driving out Sat., then driving out again for Sunday.

Since it's a 5.5 hour drive for me, I'll be there the whole weekend. I went ahead and signed up for the dinner as well since I'll be there anyway.

I'm curious how MAST training differs from NAS. I went through NAS I & NAS II....9 or 10 years back. I will be looking forward to a report afterwards. I missed Carrie, wish I could of taken in every presentation, but ScubaFest was a working weekend.
