Kinda new to the world of diving....and could use some suggestions.....I just purchased Cressi-sub "Horizons" mask....my problem is I have a large head and did have some difficulty finding a larger mask.....now I realize that I don't have a very tight fit under my nose...I find myself having to constantly clear my mask....well, my question is.......does anyone have any suggestions....makers, model anything would be helpful.
Thanks

I dive the Horizon without any problems. However, my head is not abnormally large.....maybe my ego sometimes, but that's a different story :D.

You may want to try (if you haven't already) loosening up the mask a bit. The Horizon is a nice, soft silicone, which makes it a little more comfortable, but can be troublesome if it doesn't fit right. It's also low volume, so, FWIW it's easy to clear .

I can't say I have any experiences with masks for large faces, but I know its been discussed before. I'm sure you'll get some good suggestions.

My suggestion would be maybe change how you buy the mask. Take your regulator with you...stick it in your mouth...and then take a mask you are interested in and (without putting the strap over your head) place it on your face and breath in through your nose.

If the mask is a proper fit, then you should be able to let go and it stay on with little ...preferably no....air leaking in. Buying a mask you cant try on in person is just a big chance to waste a lot of money.

You didnt say...but do you have a beard or mustache??? If you have either it is a whole new ball game. I have both and i have to trip the stach right under the nose for diving leak free...not cut it off...just trip further away from center of nose.

good luck...

If you have oportunity try Cressi Big Eyes (I have it although I don't have so big head).

Jwood: When I bought my mask I searched and found one that fit me very well. I also have a larger head and I tested masks like Rich suggested. This will show you if the mask creates a tight seal. I ended up getting a Tusa Hyperdry mask. You can see the mask on my web site. It fits very well, low volume, side purge which allows you to still equalize because the nose section is still flexible.

RICHinNC, Good answer, wish someone had given me that advice when I started out and had to buy my first mask.

After much trial and error and a costly mistake I settled on an original Tabata (now TUSA) Splendive with black rubber skirt. (This was 1984)

Last year the rubber skirt finally gave out and I settle on a Splendive II. If I had thought about it, I would have tried a mask with a black silicon skirt, the clear one seems to let in too much light.

I have a big head and a fairly wide face.
