Yeap, the simple things !!!! Somehow never crossed my mind. Thats the good thing about sharing info, learn a lot.:)

But the breath/steam thing may not work for new masks

I did that with a new mask after scrubbing it with a detergent then shampoo
It didn't fog with a hot breath - but fogged five minutes into the dive

Burned the lens then shampoo - didn't fog but fogged during the dive

I guess the breath thing works if your mask is broken-in

But if you know its broken in, then a warm breath is superfluous

There are plenty simple methods to treat new lens other than burning.
Never tried and never will.
The best method for pre diver treatment is my own spit. I spit on it, never rinse, put it on and jump, remove the mask and repeat the process couple of time and finally rinse it with sea water.
I have seen some divers rinsing their masks in a communal mask rinsing bucket on a dive boat!!!! Crazy!

This made me dig out that stuff from long ago, sparkle it was called in a very small jar, I applied it to my mask a few days ago and dove today, 52° water (f) and no problems at all, worked better than baby shampoo in that there wasn’t even a hint of for nor the sometimes streaky film. I had never given the stuff to close a look but used it successfully before.

it is probably soap, when I get a chance I’ll buy a bar of neutral ph soap to try. I soaked the mask afterward so tomorrow I’ll see if it retains the anti fog properties.

This idea of mask treatment popped up on my feed and intrigued me

I've not tried it, presume you'd need to re treat after mask gets wet

I just thought I'd post without comment

Caustic soda concentrations in cheap soap could irritate the eyes.

Do you understand the meaning of "pH neutral"?
Definitely NOT.
One thing never ever changed.
Yes, I understand PH in soils. And since no soap brand was mentioned... Next question.

You did not read the heading?
What is wrong with your eye sight?
pH neutral soap!!!
It is NOT available in Australia?
Question for you? You won't know the answer. So why bothered!
