I am a new diver, and i am starting to set up my gear, I have a Mares ruby reg and an oceanic Delta IV reg i am looking to set them up as my primary/octo. I was wondering if any one had any suggestions on which of the two i should use as my primary and if anyone knew if the pressures are close enough to use either of them as my octo.

thanx

Having 2 different reg brands can complicate servicing, so be mindful of that. I'd probably use the RUBY as the primary 2nd-stage, and the Delta IV as the octo, as the Delta likely has a 2nd-stage diver adjustable knob that you can detune so that it's less sensitive to freeflow with the octo not being in your mouth all the time.....also the RUBY metal 2nd-stage is better at preventing dry-mouth too. Generally 2nd-stages have IP's that are close enough to each other that that won't be an issue, the RUBY's lack of a 2nd-stage adjustment knob probably makes more difference to the equation.

Six of one and half a dozen of the other. Either second stage will do well in either position. Both should be tuned to an IP of around 140 psi. If the first stage is the same brand as one of the seconds, that second is the one that I would use as my primary, but it really doesn't make much difference.
