Have been asked by divers and students many times but I couldn't give them any comment about it coz I never have the chance to try the Quattro Excel myself. Could anyone (with experiences with regards to both fin) share your experiences regarding how different they are.

Thanks a ton!!!

I have dove both and am currently using the Excels. The standard Mares line is that the Quattro is the "the most powerful" fin out there. Subject to debate IMHO. They certainly are stiffer than the Excels and, I believe, require more leg muscle to drive hard. But MAY go faster when pushed.

I found that maneuvering with the Excels to be a bit easier. I do a lot of photography, so speed isn't an issue with me. I think the Excels are a more "comfortable" fin, but that's just me.

Bottom line: Much like comparing Guinness & Smithwick. Both are excellent fins. Most divers would be well suited with either. AND there are as many opinions on fins as there are divers.

From what I can tell the Quattro is more powerful when you put in the effort because it is a lot stiffer, but the Quattro Excel is easier to use. I use the Quattros, dad uses the Excels. I think it comes down to personal preference (as does most gear comparisons).
