This question for cold water was asked not too long ago and alot of people recommended the dive rite rg2500ice. Phil has a deal on these maybe still check his site: www.divesports.com

I went with an oceanic gt 3 w/ the cdx-5 1st stage as it is advertised for cold water and im not going to be doing any diving in 35d F water anyway and it saved me a few bucks. Where now im saving for a really nice rig, this will tei me over and be a nice backup untill then.

He sold me a gt-3/cdx-5, with alpha 8 octo, btc hose, xs pressure gauge, and veo wrsit 180 for $732.

TN Traveler:
There is nothing wrong with the Proton Ice - it is an excellent piece of equipment. Mares has replaced it with the Proton Ice Extreme, which differs little from the Proton Ice, except it has a new "non-stick" coating. The Proton Ice will perform fine for any type of diving - and the all metal construction has many advantages over plastic second stages.

The Proton Ice breathes great.

As far as the warranty, if you buy it from an authorized dealer (and ScubaToys IS an authorized dealer) - you will get full warranty with it.

The advice of going slow into Tech Diving is sound - but the equipment advise is bunk!!!!

Precisely.... Another difference is the Proton Ice Extreme does come with an enviornmental seal kit preassembled. Warranties are good if purchased from an authorized dealer. There is nothing wrong with the Proton Ice.

Best,

Thanks guys, you guys are very helpfull.

darn you... read my post above... lol

dive rite will not allow lower than msrp to be posted on a website so you have to call for the deal...

gl and let me know how the rg2500ics works fro ya! i was this close > < to getting one!

Bought stuff off them many times: good service.

Diverites are good regs, ditto the Mares ice and any other regs motioned in your previous 'which reg' threads: Apeks, Atomics, Scubapro and Poseidon tend to be the favourites of many tec and rec divers.

I don’t think you will go wrong with any of them so good luck in selecting!

Cheers,
Rohan.

Who sells the new dive rite regs online that are good?

We do not have the Dive Rite regs on the site... but we do stock them so if you are thinking of getting either the Dive Rite or the Mares Proton Ice just give me a call and we will get you set up! They are both very nice regs and as stated by some of the other board members they simply changed models! It will still be supported by Mares and getting parts in the future will be no problem,
and comes with a full factory warranty!

Thanks

Joe
