diver69:
I'm looking into the Air Trim system myself - just wondering, with Morphos, now that they have Manual Dumps, does it mean the worry of Pneumatic dumps have been resolved? My understanding is the big worry was with Pneumatic, you have to have tank pressure to dump air, now that Morphos has Manual dump, the problem is solved, right? Or am I misinterpreting the issue here?
Also, any opinion on Dacor Air Trim?
I do like the Cocoon (folds into a small pack) or Morphos though
Diver,
Not sure I understand you statement, but the Morphos has always had manual dumps. The Morphos has 1 pneumatic and 2 manual dumps. The Morphos Twin has 2 pneumatic and 1 manual dump. The Morphos has now been replaced by the Morphos Pro (all metal D rings now, instead of 50%m/50%p).
You are correct when you say that you need air to dump air. But you need air to breathe, so you should not be running out

That was not the problem.
I think that is was more not trusting a new gadget from Mares. I have been using mine now for 1.5 years and have no complaints. Easy to use, great to travel with and easy to maintain. I love the small back mounted wing with the side bags to give you a comfortable feeling on the surface and streamlined in the water.
Since Mares owns Dacor, the Dacor Air Trim is the same as the Mares line. For a variation on the airtrim, look into the Cressi J series with Flight control. No pneumatic issues at all, but the control stick may be. Take a look.
However, let me say that I only recommend these BCs as recreational diving BCs. If you are doing anything else (Tec, Cave, etc.), then this is not the tool to use. Go BP/W.
Good luck in your search. No mater what you choose, dive smart, dive safe.
Enjoy the ride
