Scubajim,

I take issue with you. You assume I never dove with Dive Paradise. That is incorrect. I have been on both their small boats and the large slow "cattle boats". I did not "Knock" their operation. Apple and her crews run a fine diving operation as a matter of fact I upgraded my cert. with them in 1995. I simply stated a fact--Apple will not put a diver that is new to Coz on her faster boats. She will book them on her slow boats which can have as many as 20+ divers and have the divemasters evaluate them. Granted only 8 divers to a divemaster but some how everyone seems to meet at the same place at one point in the dive and it gets crowded down there.
That type of boat and diving is not my cup of tea. To each his own. Reread my post and you will see I did not "knock" them.

I guess if I call the big slow boats "cattle" you can call the small ones "Bouncies" or maybe "Back Breakers" and we will both enjoy our own type of diving. After all thats what it's about.

My first post was really elluding to another post, " Caution in Cozumel", when I mentioned how some people knock certain operators. I agree with you regarding your last post to this thread.
BTW, have a great time in Coz. I expect a good trip report when you get back.

Does this divemaster carry water and snacks on his boat? I've heard that the small boats don't give you much in the way of amenteties. We are not sure if we should go with a small operator or the Dive Paradise place which I see ads for all the time. More info please!

Nancy - I've been diving over fifteen years and without question Raul at Bottom Time may be one of the best dive operators I've ever come across. He'll make sure you're safe, will bend over backwards to assure that whatever ameneties you seek are available, knows where to find whatever you might want to see and photograph, and is genuinely interested in making sure that you have a great time. I wouldn't consider going to Cozumel and not diving with him! - John

Ron Brandt:
DP has had a lot of bad luck lately giving them a bad reputation and making them # 1 in Cozumel for other reasions.

Ron

What do you mean? There's been some DP bashing in here lately, but it was mostly (IMO) by folks who were looking for a different type of experience than DP offers rather than any bad luck or ill will on DP's part.
