perhaps you should get your eyes retested, if you read the article it explains exactly why he is doing it and who for.

as one of the beneficiaries is the charity for children orphaned by the 9/11 i would at least you (being American) would have been appreciative of his efforts, and even more so as he is running a Marathon in a 130 pound diving suite, when most people couldn't even do it in their birthday suite!

rather than saying you don't understand some people, you should be saying good on him and giving him a pat on the back for 3 reasons:

1. He has recovered from leukaemia.
2. He is capable of running a Marathon after such a terrible disease.
3. He is doing it in a 130 pound diving suite.

And to add as the I am familiar with his main charity CLIC (my brother has run the London Marothon for them and his brother in law is something in the charity having lost a child to Leukemia) all power to him!

Still think he's crazy though....

can you believe that the NY marathon organisers have refused to give the guy a medal for completing the marathon in his dive suit when he ran it to raise money for NY children affected by the 9/11 attack, that is gratitude for you!!! :upset:

if that was me i would say fine, and give the money to another charity or not collect the money.

I have seriously had to edit this, i found this totaly unbelievable, this sort of thing just widens the pond

I have to agree somewhat this is a bizarre way to run the marathon and raise the money. However it is great he's raising the money and all. Good for him, and good for him that he survived cancer. Also after reading it and seeing the reasons why he choose the suit its wonderfull.

"I decided to wear the diving suit because it is quite simply the worst thing that anyone could do a marathon in," joked Scott, who sees his brass and rubber singlet as metaphor for the disease he whipped.

"It's a good example of what it's like for cancer and leukemia sufferers because it's slow and painful - but like me they'll win out in the end."

HooRah!!!!
