Does anyone know of any software out there useful for mapping dive sites? Freeware would be great. :-)

I'm looking for something that will allow me to diagram wreck sites, coral formations, dive site stuff in general for future reference. There's no particular project in mind here.

So far my google searches and here on SB haven't turned up anything useful.

Thanks in advance.

Yup.

The problem is that it attracts sharks. Last I heard marketing it is on hold until changes are made.

It will also be very $$$$ so for now use a slate.

Oookay...not quite what I was thinking. lol

I'm looking for a CAD type program oriented towards the mapping task *topside*. Problem is that most mapping/diagramming type software have been oriented towards roads, civil planning, etc etc.

I have CorelDraw to fall back on if it comes to that.

Try an inexpensive CAD program.

Have you looked at some GIS software? There is an open source program called Grass (http://grass.baylor.edu/) but I have never used it. I was originally designed for linux but I believe it has been ported to both windows and OSX.
