Did anybody see the manta rays off of dana point? The Sum Fun fishing boat saw it eight miles of dana point. It was front page of today's oc register so im just wondering if anybody has seen it since the sighting

I've heard about this sighting but don't know of any divers who saw it first hand. We know mantas used to enter SoCal waters in the past based on pictures of the mantas caught by fishermen, I believe from the 1920's but they may have been from a later decade. Certainly a less enlightened era since they landed and weighed in the poor manta.

There was a video clip on the news last night -- maybe ABC (7). With the recent hurricane activity in southern Baja, I wonder if they could have just gotten off course?

Wow, simply incredible! I never knew they came into California waters.

well they normally don't but the waters are so warm right now so i think they just follow the plankton and the warm water but im no marine biologist

It would be great if they decided to stay for a while!

Dave
