Hi. I've been considering all the different options for a similan/richelieu liveaboard and I think I've settled on Manta Queen II, mainly because everything I've read about them sounds positive, it fits with my dates and the price is excellent.
Has anybody out there been on the Manta Queen II? Have I made a good decision?
Thanks very much for any help!

I must have missed that one in my search. I went for the Scuba Queen, and looked at the Black and White Manta, and the Mermaid II. Now my curiosities piqued...:D

Greg, you wanted a private bathroom, remember? MQ has shared facilities.

Yes Marcia, my point was, I hadn't heard of the boat.:fro:

I know that there are so many more boats than I searched, I just hadn't heard of that one.

Exactly! Because there are many boats, you needed to limit your search somehow, and you searched for boats with private heads. It makes a lot of sense that you didn't find MQ, given your preferences. You've made a good choice with Queen Scuba, though. You had very good reasons for making her your first choice.

Dove on MQ 2 last Feb. Simple, but spacious upper deck and nice top deck to lounge around on.
Food was decent, and staff, for the most part, were pretty accommodating. Granted, the group of 6 I was in is every DMs nightmare. All instructors and Dms making unreasonable demands and running up a huge bar tab.
From what I remember the Nitrox deal was great back then. All dives on Nitrox for an extra 2000 baht, I think? Very useful diving out there, especially when cameras are involved.

I'd recommend them.

Thanks very much for your help all. I'm really looking forward to my trip!

Guess I was on MQ 1.... what the hell do I know? I remember the dives, I think.
