So if you have traveled to Puerto Galera, what got you there? Cost? Travel time?

I can get to Manila, just need the final leg figured out.

Going to book a solo trip there late September for 10 days. It's a budget destination with good diving. Maximum bang for the buck.

Found an answer. It's a bit involved and will require a ferry ride. Unless you pay $100.00 for a sea plane flight.

Otherwise about a 3 hour bus ride to get to the pier. But reliable and cheap. You have to get to the pier before the ferry stops service for the day. So the time leaving Manila is crucial or you are sleeping on the ferry pier till it opens.

Here's the link to the info from BadLadz.......

There is another thread that started recently regarding changes to the ferry and arrival to PG. You may want to check it out: Batangas to Sabang ferry discontinued July 1?

I stayed with El Galleon and dived with Asia Divers. We had a private car pick us up at airport and it was like 1.5, but definitely less than 2 hours ride to Batangas and then we took a 45 minute-1 hour ride on bangka straight to their pier.

I’ll have to check the price since there were a few of us but sea plane may be more economical if it’s just 1 person.

I likewise had a private car take me from Manila to Anilao and then the same driver from Anilao to Batangas Pier and from there to Manila. I think his name was Redge (or something like that). He was recommended by a friend in the PI who uses him. You might ask in the PI forum for responses.

So I'm diving with Scandi Divers most likely. Just getting all the info I can before I commit to paying for anything. Thanks for the input!

I would also look at Asia Divers at El Galleon. It’s an excellent operation and they have a wonderful large pier/dock. That’s a rare thing out there and I appreciated not having to wade in and out of the water or through the sand depending on the tides . :)

That aside, the care and service there is excellent. Their team is seamless from the dive scheduling and communication throughout (their team and to you, to their deck hands and air fills/nitrox, managing divers’ gear, and ensuring it’s on the right boats at the right times, and out. They knew my preferences and remembered it all week. They would grab my camera, know how I liked it and where i wanted it, and carefully placed it into the dunk tank for me. It was literally just getting boots, wetsuit, computer on and walking on the boat and walking off of it. Concierge diving at its finest and their DMs are good. I can’t rave about them enough.

The food at El Galleon is SO good, too.

^ Ok, it looks like a possible choice as well. Is eating on Sabang Beach something you did while there?

I noticed Sabang Beach was a couple hundred yards from El Galleon.

Definitely definitely definitely check out Tamarind restaurant in Sabang, located right nextdoor to Atlantis. Sometimes there's a wait, but well worth it. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

50 Bar, at Atlantis, is worth stopping in for a drink. Ton Ton, the bar tender is a great guy.

Big Apple is a regular stop for many people. Cold beer, decent liquor options, but can be really busy at times.

And yes, the food at El Galleon is also great. I really like all that EG has to offer and Asia Divers is fantastic. They're not the most expensive dive op in Sabang, but close, and actually for good reason. Great guys, well organized.

I would Not hesitate to recommend Scandi Divers or El Galleon to anyone visiting PG for the first time. Great places, Great people, and you'll be well taken care of. (Scandi has a bonus of being a bit quieter, more mellow as it's close to, but not right in, Sabang)

But Tamarind..... I will go to PG just to eat there... (easy for me, living in Manila :D)
