Hi guys...

Kinda decided to visit Manado, Indonesia early December...

Any recommendations on dive centre/operator and/or resorts/hotels for accomodations?

Thanx...

Hi,

I have been to Manado 3 times. I would recommend to you the followings:

1) Tasik Ria (www.tasikria.com). The rooms are nice and they probably have the best dive boats around. The dive operation is run by Eco Divers. Check the rates out from their websites. The house reefs in front of the resort is excellent. You can find ghostpipefish, frogfish, pymgy seahorse and many wonderful stuff.

2) NDC (www.ndc-manado.com). They are the one of the pioneers in Manado. I was told that they offer excellent dive guide. Photographers always go back to NDC. I haven't dive with them but has heard a lot of good comments. I will probably dive with them in December 2002. Rooms and boat are not as good as Tasik Ria but they are cheaper.

3) Minahasa Prima Resort
email them at (mpresort@mdo.mega.net.id), they are just beside Tasik Ria, so you will enjoy the house reef as well.

Diving in Manado is excellent, fantastic Walls and if you like macros, you'll love Manado!!!

NDC is really old and run down. Minahasa Prima Resort is a comfortable resort and their excellent dive guide Martinus used to work at NDC so you get the best of both worlds.

thanks guys... was thinking about Eco Diver & Minahasa Resort...

tried emailing Minahasa, but the emails were bounced back... any idea how to contact them

I will be headed back there for my second visit from 7-12 October. The owner of the resort is based in Singapore if I am not wrong. You can contact this address for your booking enquiries. I can provide you with a trip report when I get back.

hi seamonster.. you sure about Deep Blue owning Minahasa Resort?

i try not to go thru any 'foreign' agent... rather deal directly with the resort operator :)

As you are planning to go on december it is maybe better to stay on Bunaken. The west winds can cause a very heavy surge. It makes the trip from Manado to Bunaken very rough. Excellent operator on Bunaken is Froggies. See http://www.divefroggies.com Also twofish diving has good reports. Or try the other (better)side of North Sulawesi. For example Lembeh Strait. See http://gb.diving-on-sulawesi.com Anyway, enjoy your stay.
