Perhaps google translate didn't do a good job, but that specific article just seems to talk about restructuring routes to get better utilization of aircraft, nothing specific about Garuda being in trouble.

A healthy company does not cancel many flights and complete routes very last moment. The new routes are not known yet. And they have a serious conflict with their employees which threaten to strike. Since we are not in France or Germany, this is quite unusual :). I am a very frequent flyer of Garuda and like the company, but this situation is not good.

Ok, I hear you. You are on site. But I'm from North America where we are used to our airlines running consistently in the red and being bailed out by government again and again.

It's been the advent of extra luggage fees and period of low fuel prices that improved the old scenario.

I don't like having to wait for 10 hours in Makassar, but I guess I don't have many options, unless I completely change my trip schedule.
Another question, I will travel to Manokwari after getting to Sorong, will 40 minutes transfer time be long enough in Sorong when flying with Garuda?

There's a hotel at Makassar airport. I'm told it's a reasonable price. Just me but I'd pay a reasonable price to have a room vs sitting in a coffee shop
    for 10 hours.

Batik Air and Citilink seem to be the best alternative airlines if not taking Garuda.
