Manado to Sorong

Hi,

I noticed Garuda isn't doing any direct flights from Manado to Sorong anymore, does anyone know if this is permanent?

hopefully it's seasonal. If the Raja Ampat boats are doing their transition trips now to Komodo, there will be a lot fewer divers trying to get to Sorong from North Sulawesi (Manado). Did you check to see if they have flights again in, say, December 2018?

Yes I did check several dates. It seems all the flights are going through Makassar now... Or I must be missing something.

There was a month ago, I would also guess seasonal. Don't know if you can check as far out as Dec, I was told Garuda and any of them don't put out schedules more than a few months in advance - at least not any schedules you can trust. Of course, you can't really trust the schedule then either...

A month ago they made us go through Jakarta to Manado to Sorong (we had been booked from Bali to Manado to Sorong).

Would NAM air / Sriwijaya be an alternative? It seems they have a decent luggage policy compared to Lion air, at least.

Edit: I found an Indonesian article saying all flights are cancelled till October. I will be visiting mid november, I guess I need to start looking elsewhere.

My overweight on Lion was going to be around $40 for one leg. I upgraded at the office near the check-in desk for $60 and didn't have to pay any overweight charges. The plane was packed but I was the only one in business out of 12 seats. LOL the attendants were not prepared for a business class passenger. The meal appeared to be a Marmite sandwich, not really sure what it was but I ate it anyway.

Bad news, Garuda seems to have serious financial problems. Nothing written that it is temporary. They also stopped Bali - Manado.
