I read recently (Rodales?)... and then on the Mall of America (Bloomington, MN) web site about their 'Swim with the Sharks' program in the mall aquarium. I dove last summer with the Disney divers at the Epcot 'Living Seas' exhibit and it was a blast!

Has anyone dived the 'Mall of America'?

I stayed at the hotel across the road from there a few times. And to think I spent the evening reading in my room when I could have been diving with sharks.

I've stayed in the same Mariott many times and never had any idea.. who would've thunk?... Just wondered if anyone had 'tested the waters' before I give a try.

Here are the details:
Thank you for your interest in our Swim with the Sharks program. This program runs on Wednesday evenings from 5pm-9pm and Saturdays from 1pm-5pm. The cost per diver is $185.75 (members to the aquarium pay $159.75). The program requires a minimum of 3 dives to run and has a maximum capacity of 5 per program. The program begins with a tour of the facility with our dive team to get you acquainted with where you will be diving. There are two areas of the aquarium that you will be able to dive in. The first is Fisherman’s Hollow where you get the chance to feed our lake sturgeon. The second dive occurs in our Shark Cove exhibit with our large sharks, stingrays, and sea turtles. Feel free to hunt for shark teeth while in here. They make a great souvenir.

Underwater Adventures provides the following equipment: tanks, weights and weight belts and a souvenir t-shirt. Participants are required to bring BC, regulator, mask, wetsuit (5mm-7mm recommended), booties, and fins. All participants must be 18 years of age to participate and be SCUBA certified. Advance reservations and prepayment are required.

i have been to the aquarium and it looks nice, particularly the fresh water tank where you can feed the giant sturgeon etc. however, i find the pricing for the diving a bit excessive.

But it's unusual to be able to dive with Sharks up this way.

...Epcot was only $145.... cool experience and I guess they can get it from many.... I'm not so sure my 'allowance' from my mommy will cover it, though.
