If you were staying at a resort instead of a liveaboard in the Maldives, which atoll/ resort would you recommend for the best diving? Ideally, big stuff - mantas, etc...

Only been there once - but Kuramathi had some of the best diving I've ever done.

heard that Rangali Hilton is good for Mantas & Whalesharks coz it's in south ali atoll. close to the Manta cleaning stations.
V nice resort so No Kimuchi allowed!!!!

Of course liveaboard would be my first choice
. And Rika & gang were ranting about how luxurious the Ocean Dancer was. but I have to make a concession with my dive "buddy" ... we'll smuggle kimchi in in my camera housing...Damselfish, it would be for December (peak Christmas time) if rooms are available...

Concession....hmmm..... LOB or Resort, maybe you guys can try "Fourseasons Explorer"?

Four Seasons?? not that MUCH of a concession...
I was in Kuredu and it's very good. Dive spot Kuredu Express is exceptional.
