Make noise underwater - bike bell?

I read conflicting posts re: dog clicker as an effective noise maker under water.

Have people tried a bicycle brass bell?

nope I use a snap bolt tapping on tank.

I've had a couple of buddies experiment with noise makers---air horn, rattler, clicker, etc.---recently and none did the job.

Re the clicker.

I only tried it the once and, when I did, a Nazi sentry popped up and shot me. Never again.

Actually, I'm thinking it's all the ambient noise that renders most of the commercial noise makers useless.

Tape a marble to the cap on a shotgun shell. Then slam it against your tank if you want to make some noise.

I use my canister light to get my buddies attention. There's also pounding your fist into an open palm. If those two things don't work, I find a better buddy.

If I'm wearing gloves, it's winter time. The divers that still come out pay attention to light signals.
