Please Help me

I was looking at my gear today, and I noticed a very small white green corrosion mark around the first stage base where it screws in.

I am really concerned that I will have to throw the entire first stage away because of permanent damage. Will it cause any problems with my life support. Please help.

Thanks so much

I served under Major Panic back in the 'Nam.

Hit it with a 3M Scotchbrite pad. Smear a tiny bit of silicone on it between dives.
Go back to watching the Vancouver Canadians play baseball.

Thanks for getting back to me. Would this be safe to take in the water?

I really am worried about it.

Thanks for the help

It looks ok to me - what I'd do is mix a little white wine vinegar with some warm water in a cup.

Get a toohbrush, dip the toothbrush in the solution and then brush around the corrosion then grease it as Doc says.

Ask your buddy to see if there's any bubbles on your descent. If it still bothers you get it replaced - peace of mind is worth a few quid if it really bothers you.

Ok if your that concerned, have it serviced.
Oh, never use silicone lube with anything but air. If nitrox is used lube it with Cristolube. [emoji41]

Yes, you are right, you should throw it away right now. To be sure it is disposed properly, you have to send it to me right now !!!!
;-) Just kidding.

I service regulators, in which severe corrosion throughout seems to be the only thing holding the regulator together on a regular basis, & get them looking & working good again with an acid cleaning solution, baking soda solution & some elbow grease. From what I am seeing it is not much to worry about.

It is kind of obvious that you don't have Technical inclinations on mechanical equipment even as simple as OC dive gear, it will be good that you do a Equipment Specialist course. that will help you understand your equipment.

I guess you did not pay to much attention to the rental equipment from some of the Dive operators you have been to or even the one where you got certified, there you will know what rusted 1st stage looks alike.

This is the basic forum...the OP was asking for help, not for your rude comments.
