RJTY:It is such a shame the world is coming to this money for nothing and cheaper is better attitude. Do you buy your groceries on line? Lets all start doing that and push the local grocery stores out too. What started out as a good information source has turned into a beast for get rich people for nothing that are not willing to put in a little old fashon hard work and the cheap consumers have fallen for the bait.
That, for me, is one tough issue.PerroneFord:But.... how will you get fills?
Scooter first, RIX second.NWGratefulDiver:That, for me, is one tough issue.
I can afford a scooter or a RIX ... which will it be ...

Scuba_Steve:I'm a simple guy here Phil, break it down for me.
The first order of preservation as far as Padi is concerned, is Padi.
This is as it should be.
My thoughts are that Padi's little brother and cheap labour is the LDS.
Padi also knows that the LDS can'tmake ends meet on the price of the courses, and that's not going to change overnight.
I can't imagine Padi would knife their brother, thereby hurting themselves, by endorsing internet GEAR sales which would in the end see a whole pile of LDS hurting even more than they are already.
I just don't see it.
There would have to be something on the gear side of things for the LDS, IE allow discounting etc...........bascially allowing the LDS to set their own prices and advert it as such.
Help me out here Phil.
EDIT: As Terry says below, I just don't see the connection.
Somebody I Forgot:A little side bar to this story.......I heard this from a reputable source, but honestly cannot remember who, so forgive if the statistics are not exact.......of all active PADI instructors, only about 22% of them are employed by or affiliated directly with, a PADI IIRC store....the remainer teach independently and secure students through their own methods. PADI IIRC stores account for over 80% of all certifications issued each year. In other words, instructors teaching independent of a store affiliation (most instructors) teach VERY FEW STUDENTS and sell very little PADI stuff! The majority of the volume PADI experiences come as a direct result of the IIRC stores. Back to the topic....
