Hopefully, I made you THINK! :D No, ~you~ isn't the only problem. ALL of us share in what is going on in our industry. Don't ever think that ~you~ can't make a HUGE difference in how the industry does it's business. You may THINK you are just a minor cog, but ~you~ is a part of a much bigger collective called :sblogo:

For those really concerned about being singled out, I have used some special programming to enable each of you to see your own username and not what I actually typed. Hopefully some have gotten a laugh, but I did it so that EVERYONE would think about the real implication that ~you~ has an impact on the Scuba Diving Industry!!! Hopefully the folk at DEMA will figure this out as well! :D

too funny, NetDoc................hmmmm who else saw that it is really NetDoc's fault :D

The best was Murrayp4's comment. LOL.

Almost sent the poor guy packing after only a week here!

Oh, so, I guess, well, I will put the SeaHawk away, back to the depths, hmmmm. N

Excellent Doc.

Not with my credentials, which is why I'm employed where I am. But I can find similar employment on St. Croix - chatted with contacts there during the visit.

Cost of comparable housing (ft2) is about 3X what we have now. Cost of homeowners insurance is about 10X what we pay now. Cost of energy was easily 2X what we pay now. Cost of potable water was significantly higher - most homes have a cistern and water is trucked from the reverse osmosis plant when needed during dry spells - and isn't cheap. Would I still move there for comparable pay? Certainly.

My discussion was centered on the economics of tank fills, but I received a question in response. I have provided data. Time for me to exit the thread I suppose - I don't mind discourse, but this isn't occurring.

Forgive me for a poorly thought out response. A better question would be "Do you think the wages of a Bonaire tank monkey or compressor mechanic are higher or lower than one in the US."

As far the the situation on St. Croix, I have no idea, but I thought you original question centered on Bonaire vs the US.

NetDoc...Very clever! :D

It has come to my attention that ~you~ is responsible for the entire decline in the diving industry. This is an appeal for ~you~ to come clean and rectify the damage you have caused over the years. Special operators are standing by hoping ~you~ will call them and pledge us your support! :D

Actually, it is all part of the grand conspiracy.:D

Forgive me lord, for I have sinned.... send me off to live with the pigmies. Hopefully air will still be only $4 a fill although I keep telling him $5 would be fair.

Interesting little macro.

No, my example of Bonaire was merely used as the location with probably the highest number of airfills per time period in this hemisphere.

In my biz, it is apparent Hugo Chavez is the current best example of "You'd bettr support me or you'll be sorry" - with some attempts by Ramirez to spin doctor comments about PDVSA having no room for those who don't support Chavez, with election time looming.

And, I don't think I'd need to ask anyone on this board if they would like to earn what the average Venezuelan earns.

I certainly don't expect anyone on this board to stop using fossil fuel abruptly.

One big reason I'm not employed on St. Croix now.

The gas station is a prime example of market dynamics from 'full-serve' stations (which some exist in niches still), to 'self-serve' stations, to now fuel at the pump at grocers and big-box retailers.

Any one of you can also make a difference. But true market-force economics are not beholden to emotion or threats. Speculation by market traders not withstanding.

I'm a bit concerned I'm considered a 'problem' by asking for factual data to support the reasons cited, particularly by NetDoc. I've obviously lost any bid at 'hopefully making you think'.
