Maine lobster caught in Redondo Canyon!

Crazy, I used to live in Maine. Looks like life in Southern California took a toll on this guy, they looked much prettier when pulled from the water in Maine. This one looks beat-up like a Sheepcrab. Big sucker though nice find!

160 feet. Too deep for me.

Oops, didn't see this in the dive conditions thread. I was looking at Diver.net and saw it posted there first. It's something I have never heard of before. Anyone know how often they are found here?

Just what I was thinking...probably an "escapee" from the tanks at Captain Kidd's. Bizarre!

There are buddhist that buy live lobster,fish,and other seafoods and release it back into the water.

I was thinking the Annual Redondo Beach Lobster Feast...they fly in thousands of Maine lobster for the event and some "save the world" person was invited and refused to eat the lobster, so threw it into the waters...

I very curious to know how they interact with the local Spiny Lobster...anybody know?

Your lobster hunting just rocks man.
I'm glad you brought that one up...it doesn't belong here.
I don't recall the last time a transplanted species did anyone any favors....well maybe a moskito fish (small minnow) that the state puts into irragation ditches and stagnent ponds to kill the larvas, but I'm not even sure about that.
On another note; bite for bite which tasted better the spiny's or the Main?
