Got in a couple dives over at Rock Divers today at Madison Aquatic Park.

The day started out very overcast and a little rainy, but turned out to
be a great day partly cloudy and a nice breeze. It ended up after we
left as stormy and rainy, so we timed it just right.

Water temps on the surface read on the computer as 82f to 86f (depending
on when you looked at it.) Bottom temps were 72f to 76f, which is
nice and warm. Several people were "braving" the waters in shorties even.
Visibility wasn't the greatest. Above the thermocline it was around 15 to 20
feet easily. Below the thermocline it was 5 feet or worse in a few spots
but overall was 5-10 feet. The water was very hazzy though. Hopefully
the vis will improve again in the upcoming weekends. It might just
be bad now due to recent rain storms, but not sure.

The parking area was full, but there was still plenty of areas to park.
I counted around 60 cars total on the front and back area.

They are still down to one dock area on the front (west) side of the quarry,
but everyone shared the dock area very well. (the other dock area was
damanged the 2nd weekend of July during a rescue and for some reason
they haven't fixed it yet. They have fixed the training platform in front
of the "operational" dock area that was tilting 30 degrees to one side).

Overall, it was a good day of diving and a great day to be outside.
The only thing we could have wished for was slightly better vis.

Thanks for the report, we may be heading up there the weekend of the 27th, but nothing concrete yet. Its nice to get a fairly current update before we go though :)

Let me know if you do and I'll come on out and join ya.

I'll send an email and post here when I firm things up. Its still kind of up in the air at the moment.

I know 72F bottom temps have me drooling at the mouth. I've been wanting to come out and check out rockdivers for awhile now. I don't forsee why I wouldn't be able to come on out and dive that Saturday.

I imagine they'd be slightly warmer than that in two weeks. Typically it's
up around 76f by then. The good thing is that the bottom temps stay
that warm all the way up into the first of October.
