I got the chance to try my new macro lens last week on Bonaire. It was harder than I expected. Getting close enough to focus scared a lot of subjects. Here are some that turned out OK.

I was using an Olympus XZ-1 with dual strobes. Getting the strobes positioned to illuminate a subject really close to the camera was also difficult. This is going to take a lot of practice.

I find that shooting macro is a lot easier than WA. I can look at the lighting and reposition the strobes if I need to. WA usually you have one chance to get the shoot especially with sealife. Do you use a focal light at all? I was wondering if you had any strobes since your pics do not look like there was really any light on them when taken.

Thanks for the advise. I'll look them over.

Since you're in Allentown, Dutch Springs is a good place to practice. Play around with the strobe positions, experiment with TTL and manual power.

I plan to practice there, just did not find the time before going to Bonaire.
