The Witch (yes, same boat as Really Wicked Witch) will be replaces byThe Phoenix for the next season.
The (Really Wicked) Witch is a low-budget boat that has been popular with divers from Malaysia and Singapore. The boat (and other similar ones, like the one that is replacing Witch) is fine if you don't mind sleeping in fairly close quarters and sharing a limited number of bathrooms/showers. The divers I've had with the operator have generally come back reasonably happy with the diving and the food.

Unfortunately The Witch - to put it politely - is no longer available. I understand that she is being replaced by another boat. This must be The Phoenix Steven?

Yes, The Phoenix is the replacement, being built at the moment.
I presume she will be good value for money as well, but The Witch is history.

Of course you never know what will happen with the building schedule, but yes, I would not hesitate to pay a deposit.
On the other hand, for a trip you don't expect to do until March 2011, there is really no rush to get your spot right now. You could wait to see how things develop.

Yes, you're quite right that it can happen, especially when there's a charter group taking up all/most of the spots or when it's a holiday week, but this far out it's quite unusual for boats to be fully booked in March. That is, the number of trips fully booked is small in proportion to the number of trips available. It is certainly worthwhile asking the agent who is dealing with the booking what the numbers are looking like.
