I have an Al 80cf rom Luxfer manufactured in the late 80's for sale. It is made of the old alloy. It has a fresh hydro and VIP+ dated Sept 2009. I'd prefer to sell it local for shipping purposes but I will ship anywhere in US if buyer pays shipping.

I'm asking $70 plus shipping. This tank is in great condition and is perfectly safe to fill. For some reason some shops won't fill them so make sure yours will. It adheres to all DOT requirements so any good fill operator should fill this. I'll post pics if anyone is interested.

Is this a 1988 or before Lux? Are you referring to the 6351 alloy?

you have to be kidding... $70 for a 30 year old tank that some shops wont even fill

although i do agree $70 is a bit high, there is a shop overreaction when it comes to the 6351; if its a good tank, its a good tank...I might do $50 including shipping, not sure how much longer those tanks will last without signs of cracking...

I'm very lenient on the price. The hydro and VIP costed me $32.00. I'd like to get 50 for it. The VIP+ looks for SLC and if none are evident, none will form within 5-6 years. Most of them never show signs of cracking. It is an old tank (21 years). If you use these alot, and are looking to buy another, $50 is very fair for even a gauranteed 5 years of use. I'd just keep it to use instead of loose money on it, but my tank collection is getting a little excessive.

Not gonna hijack the thread...if someone owns a compressor then here ya go. As far as "shop overaction" regarding filling these tanks, I would say that Luxfer issuing a 'buy back' program and seeing one that has cracked under pressure would be cause enough for a shop to decline a fill. Personally, I don't see it being worth the risk. As stated, if you have a shop that will fill it or own a compressor, here ya go. :D

i would bite, but after owning 2 1984 tanks and not being able to get a shop to fill them it was a bit of a bear to get em filled. i knew a guy with a compressor, but being on the same schedule to be able to get him to fill them was a bear as well. mine were good tanks too, passed VIP and hydro. so here is a free bump.

I understand that some shops won't fill them. If properly inspected, these tanks are safe. Luxfer issued no recall. Check with your LDS. I can imagine the further south in Fl you go, the more i see shops not filling them. I hope fill express still does them... Theres plenty of arguments out there about it. I'm just trying to get a little money for a good condition scuba tank.

$50.00 + Shipping or pickup for free. I'll drive up to an hour from Melbourne to meet.

True, Luxfer never issued a recall...I stated, "buy back", completely different program. Luxfer issued a 'buy back' program whereupon they issued a $50 voucher for the tanks in question. Just as you have shops filling LP tanks to 3600 'cave fills', you'll have 'em fill the old Lux tanks.

If someone from Palm Beach county,Fla buys these, give me a yell and I'll point you to a shop locally that'll fill em.
Until I bought steel 120's, I dove pre 1988 Luxfers amd USD's.
Got them hydro'd, vis'd and eddy tested locally and had a local shop fill them without any problems.
