So are you still hoping to get $125 for your cylinder, or are you going to change the title of this discussion thread?

I just got my response from LUXFER a couple hours ago too, stating the MD15-S14 equivalency (but not the date explicitly).

Hello ____,

I thought I had already sent this to you. The S014 is the same as our MD15 cylinder. That is where you can find when the alloy was changed over.

If you need anything else, please let me know.

Published switchover date for the MD15 is Dec 1987 per the Dates when Luxfer changed its aluminum alloy from 6351 to 6061 - Luxfer Gas Cylinders document.
Dates when Luxfer changed its aluminum alloy from 6351 to 6061

Between 1987 and 1988, Luxfer Gas Cylinders discontinued use of 6351 aluminum alloy and began using a proprietary version of 6061 aluminum alloy for all its aluminum cylinder models manufactured in the United States. Listed below are the dates by model number when the transitions to the new alloy occurred. Any current Luxfer models that do not appear on this list were never made from 6351 alloy in the first place and have always been made from Luxfer’s proprietary 6061 alloy.

The thread has been changed to a discussion and there is a separate advert for the cylinder.

I heard from my contact at Luxfer this morning. They stated the following:

So we now have the change over date. Which is consistent with Luxfer's tech bulletin.

It should be noted that the MD15 being an oxygen cylinder has 0.750-16 UNF threads. Scuba cylinders are 0.750-14 NPS. So they are the same but for the threads. Thus why one is labeled as MD15 and the other is labeled as a S14. It is also interesting to note that one is "15" whereas the other is "14"

Given that for all intents and purposes these cylinders are the same that would explain why the S14 was not on the advisories or later bulletins. However, as this discussion shows was confusing. I have suggested that Luxfer add the S14 to their bulletin.

Great that you finally heard back. I asked them years ago and never got a reply.
