Hey all. I've lurked as a member for a little while, but finally decided to break the silence as I step over the transom this weekend and complete my final open water dive to secure my OW certification.

I've always been interested in Scuba -- had the fortune of growing up in a tax-rich area, which the school districts benefited from, and I had my first 'trial' experience in Scuba at 14 in the school swimming pool.

I received Scuba Diver level cert in December of last year while in St. Vincent, Grenadines (thanks Instructor Kay Wilson), and am now finishing my OW cert via my local Sport Chalet in LA (West Hills location).

I look forward to posting -- not only helping out newer divers as time comes, but hopefully, also getting together with other local divers to have fun and keep diving.

Welcome to the board.

See you in the Club section, North America/United States/California Kelp Divers/SoCal section.

Good luck with your certification and then lets go diving.

Welcome to the board!

I guess you've been here long enough to know your way around. Good to see you posting now...

And don't be shy about posting. Click Forums above, tour the long list of choices, and jump in anywhere you're qualified. PM me with any questions, and I'll try to find a pretty good answer.

Check out the monthly Wrinkles Dives... a number of local SoCal divers join that group at different dive sites.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement! I'll tell ya -- so far, Diving is cheaper than learning to fly ;) I'm suddenly getting 'cold' symptoms, so I'm hopeful that I can pull off my final OW dive without equalization problems.

DrBill, I nearly made it to the Wrinkles Dive in August, but couldn't at the least minute. Thanks for the reminder to check out September's!

I look forward to being a part of the community. Thanks again for the hearty welcome!
