When we made our reservations for the Cayman Airways shuttle from GC to LC a couple of weeks ago, we were told that each of us could have one checked bag up to 50 lbs. and one carry-on up to 15 lbs.

see, i think we better pack with 50 in mind, not 55 or it seems we may have problems. thanks!

Yes, plan for 50 (good luck!), as the weight scales also tend to always weigh a bit heavy, plus on your way home, some of your gear won't be bone dry, so it will be a few extra pounds.

For carry-ons, Cayman Airways never seems to care if its the Jet, but if its on the Otter, they get weighed fairly frequently.

I've had both (camera) backpacks and 1" thick messenger bags weighed. I'm tempted some time to pay with a credit card, so as to make sure that the money actually makes it to the airline, instead of just someone's pocket.

BTW, a year or so ago, I had a reservation on CAL on the Jet, but they did a last minute substitution of the Otter ... and then tried to charge us for our 2nd checked bag and heavier carry-ons. I let them weigh them & all (safety), but when they tried to charge *me* for it, I told them that because I had a reservation on the Jet, "Charge it to the JET". Fortunately, we were in front in line, so the other 6 passengers behind us heard us get this done for us, and they did the same thing.

going to LC in 2 weeks. As far as the 15 pound limit carry on. If I have a small back pack on and carrying a small ,,say gym bag. Does that count as two carry on's or one. If a woman carrys a big purse and a small bag do they count the purse also. When I fly in the states,,,yes you are allowed one carryon. But they don't count a laptop case or a womans purse as the one carry on. Figure I would carry my regs in the small packpack in hopes they don't weigh that one. I saw on another post that they would weigh a regulator bag and add that onto your 15 pound limit.

Carrie,,,,you may know this answer??

We were last in LC, everything was weighed when you left. I saw nothing being weighed on the trip over. Everyone was limited to one carryon. A couple with us had to pay extra b/c they each had 2 carryons. Another person in our group was over the weight limit as he bought too many T-shirts and had to pay extra. This was in LC, on the way back to Grand.

Try to consolidate. You don't need much for the week, and once you get there, if you stay on the resort, you only need a credit card at the end of the trip.

Have a great time!

realize that the carry on limit to LC isn't as much about weight as volume. Yes, you're restricted in weight overall because it's a small plane - but as far as carryons there simply isn't room in the cabin for people to take much on the planes they use.
