I talked to David at LP about the very issue you raised about the X650. I also talked to SP headquarters. According to Scubapro, the X650 was released a couple of months or so ago. Shortly after release, they recalled them to modify the dive/pre-dive switch. During the redesign of the switch, authorized dealers were told to return all they had and not sell any until the retrofitted versions were available.

LP bought all their X650 in non-US countries when they were first released. David at LP was very candid about his X650 regs NOT being the retrofitted ones and told me to NOT buy one. He was also upset that ScupaPro never posted the recall on their web page and therefore, was not aware of it. I.M.O. Scubapro should immediately post something like that on a web page. Incidently, ScubaPro told me that the photo of the X650 on their own homepage was the old model and that the one on the LP page is what it actually looks like!! They said, "Wow, we didn't realize that; thanks; we will update the photo." That was three weeks ago. The old/incorrect photo remains as the thumbnail, but when you click on it the correct photo appears. I guess they got it half-way fixed! I hope the actual reg is fixed ALL the way!

Anyway, I applaud LP for being honest about the X650. It is a bit strange that they are still selling them but recommending us not to buy them (I suspect that they are not selling them now although their web page lists them as in stock).

The US dive equipment industry is operating illegally in my opionion. They price fix. In Europe they don't do this (probably since they have less lawyers) so LP buys them at competitive prices in Europe and elsewhere. When we buy from LP we can take advantage of that.

it was good of David to warn you off but it looks to me like if I click "add to cart" they'll sell one to me with no warning. Will they send me an obsolete reg of will I just have to wait a long time for the real one to come.

Nice guys all right!

This post is so wrong!!!!!! You just accused LP of selling counterfeit ScubaPro regs on a list with 14,000 members. We could start with libel and slander....... that's what I say. You need to get a clue.

If this guy says that SP can't identify the serial number on his reg then who are to say he isn't telling the truth?

Looks like at least slander to me, LOL

If LP was selling regs under scubapros name that were indeed not scubapro regs, I would think that scubapro would have a bit of fun with trademark violations, fraud, etc.

I challenge you to save scubapro by buying this fake reg, and submitting it to scubapro so they can use it in their investigation and subsequent lawsuits.

Here here!

msedivingdoc, if your so sure you got a fake, file suit against LP and then report the findings to us. I am quite sure you don't have the balls to do that since your not really sure LP sold you a fake. I'd bet large money LP is not selling fakes.

They have entirely too much to lose to take such risks. Just because they sell products much cheeper than you can buy elsewhere does not mean they are crooks......like some LDS'......IMO

A while back a friend asked me to look at his new in-the-box Zeagle reg because it didn't work. The second stage leaked air badly.

He pulled it out and it was an old Zeagle made by Apeks that he said he got from LP. This reg had to be what? three years old. I didn't take it apart because he didn't like what I quoted for a rebuild (Apeks parts from Zeagle cost way more than other rebuild kits I buy) but my guess was the seat just went bad. They do that and the reg doesn't have to be used. He got a great price though. LOL

When I've been stuck with regs sitting that long we rebuilt them before we let them out the door. I guess LP doesn't do that.

Ok this was exactly what I expected. There are some of you out there that are dead set on LP being a great company! I'm not trying to slander! It's just this, when I call SP and they tell me they don't recognize the serial number on my reg. It throws a big caution flag into the air! I'm not trying to say they sell fakes or suck because they undercut LDS''s This post is intended to find an answer to a logical question. Why does my reg have serial numbers that SP doesn't recognize? Also it is intended to find out if anyone else has had the same thing occur.

I really would love to see the diving comunity in the U.S. move to allowiing more competition and stuff. It's just that it seems like the LP deals are too good. A good cautious buyer will always evaluate why your getting such a great deal. That was the other intent of my post.

Some of you have been productive and have provided some answers, such as explaining the foreign markets that I'm not familiar with.

For the idiot who in the same paragraph explained that LP is a great company with good people, then explained that they advised you not to buy their advertised reg...WOW!! Sounds like they really care! If they did care they would pull any item not up to par instead of selling it.

Folks I have nothing to gain if LP stays in business or not... I just want what everyone else wants; safe products at good prices. We're not buying prada bags, this is life support equipment.

Once agian this post is not meant to accuse anyone of fabricating or selling fakes! It is intended to evaluate questions I have about a purchadse I made prior to joining scubaboard and reading the caution messages.

After reviewing the post I'll omit this section:
I now this Scubapro did not make my reg!!

That statement is incorect to my beliefs.

What should replace it is that I'm not sure of the person that manufatured my reg and that after conversations with SP, I have doubts that SP sis not make my reg.

Someone else was also right, I don't have any reason to sue LP... There is not enough evidence. It is my hope that LP is well within legle rights.

Anyway the old nag is still breathing shollow. I'm sure someone will like to take a stab.

My first question is why don't you contact LP and put the question to them?
Why does SP not recognize my products serial number? If they can't answer the question, maybe LP will replace the unit.
When did you buy it?
Do you still have the receipt?
Are you still within the warrently period?
Did you send the LP warranty card back?

Just something to think about

Msedivingdoc,
Re-read my post IDIOT! I'll leave it at that since I really don't want to belittle the value and purpose of this board. And try using spell-checker.

Johnny..........where's the spell checker? LOL

I got my MK25/S600 from LP. I bought it in-store.

When I opened the box I expected to see the regular MK25 but to my surprise and delight it was the MK25AF. They set up the reg/octo/SPG for me, no charge.

The reg performs flawlessly and, to my tastes, better than (dare I risk two dead horses running neck and neck?) even the certified LDS Apexes I've borrowed.
