I have contacted Scubapro personally and have talked with one of their personnel that process the warranties. In regards to foreign sales the warranty is good as long as you have a receipt. If it is an internet sale based in the U.S. the sale does not include the warranty. This is why LP is a problem child with Scubapro... they are an internet company based in the U.S. That said, if you think it’s a good deal worth the extra shipping go for it! My last word of caution is this, if the reg I bought from Lp is not recognized by SP as one of theirs by the serial numbers on the housing and on the 1st stage then where did these numbers come from. I now this Scubapro did not make my reg!!! I’ve ordered a new x 650 from my local dive shop. I placed my order back in April and the shop still doesn’t have it. Logical deduction leads to the question...why does LP have the regs now, as early as August??? Again a direct source from Scubapro reveals a huge back order due to unforeseen production problems. Simply put the SP rep at the company told me the reg is not ready to be sold to the public yet. An earlier post warned about internet selling regs that are actually fakes!!! I really believe that LP is in the practice of selling mock SP regs. Why else can they sell a brand new reg for less than ANYONE else? I know this is an old issue, but as far as life support equipment I will never trust them again. I also back the groups that are out to change the internet sales business in regards to scuba equipment. Until the companies allow authorized dealers to sell competively online, it is my contention taht internet sales are unsafe and frankly fraudulent. If someone can tell me how a internet company can get a bulk order of unreleased regs, and sell them below cost i'll be amazed! Marketing dictates that until the item is at a high demand and high inventory, prices will not be this low! Ok everone chew the fat and spit it back, I'll be interested in what you say!

I think you have made a lot of false statements in your post. Just because someone sells online does not mean they are a fraud.

If LP was selling regs under scubapros name that were indeed not scubapro regs, I would think that scubapro would have a bit of fun with trademark violations, fraud, etc.

I challenge you to save scubapro by buying this fake reg, and submitting it to scubapro so they can use it in their investigation and subsequent lawsuits.

Hmm.... beating the dead horse - again?!!

FYI Diveinn is an authorized Scubapro dealer, and guess what, they also sell x650 reg :D :D

In the retail world, high volume sellers usually get first crack at new items. Low volume sellers (like your LDS) are on the bottom of the food chain, and as such get last crack at high demand items.

Regardless of what you "heard", these are the real things from Scubapro.

Two other things to consider are the pricing structure setup for selling to authorized dealers and where LP's regs are likely to come from. There is a good chance that, as with almost any other manufacturer, the more you buy the less you pay. In other words if you buy 10 regs you pay wholesale, if you buy 100 res you get 2% off, and if you buy like 1000 regs you get 5% off wholesale. Companies like LP operate on very small margins for the sake of selling huge volumes. It comes down to quantity (of slaes) vs. quality (of sales). Also, the SP regs that LP sells are likely from sources outside the US where price fixing is illegal. In many if not all european countries it is illegal to void a warranty for not purchasing it from you local authorized dealer. However, here in the US it is common practice to void warranties for such purchases. I see this kind of things every winter when ski season roles around. Dealers in Canada have little or no regulation over how much skis are sold for. With the favorable exchange I can purchase skis from a dealer in Canada cheaper than I can from the manufacturer here in the US. the problem with warrany comes when there are model specific to regions of the world. It is often difficult to make a warranty claim on such skis since they were basicly purchased from a foreign vendor and the company is represented in that country by a seperate but equal "distributor" that is is only connected to those in the US by the parent company in Austria, Germany, France, etc.

ive had bought all my gear from them and great prices, and i had on problem with my bc, and they emailed me a call tag monday morning shipping it back to them 2 day air wednesday they received it and had me a new one by friday so i go out hat weekend. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE, I WOULDNT BUY FROM ANYONE ELSE WITHOUT CHECKING WITH THEM FIRST.....oh by they way i dont think they can get away with selling fake products, I WONDER WHAT YOUR TRUE ANGLE TO THIS QUESTION IS, SOUND LIKE A LESURE PRO HATER

I talked to David at LP about the very issue you raised about the X650. I also talked to SP headquarters. According to Scubapro, the X650 was released a couple of months or so ago. Shortly after release, they recalled them to modify the dive/pre-dive switch. During the redesign of the switch, authorized dealers were told to return all they had and not sell any until the retrofitted versions were available.

LP bought all their X650 in non-US countries when they were first released. David at LP was very candid about his X650 regs NOT being the retrofitted ones and told me to NOT buy one. He was also upset that ScupaPro never posted the recall on their web page and therefore, was not aware of it. I.M.O. Scubapro should immediately post something like that on a web page. Incidently, ScubaPro told me that the photo of the X650 on their own homepage was the old model and that the one on the LP page is what it actually looks like!! They said, "Wow, we didn't realize that; thanks; we will update the photo." That was three weeks ago. The old/incorrect photo remains as the thumbnail, but when you click on it the correct photo appears. I guess they got it half-way fixed! I hope the actual reg is fixed ALL the way!

Anyway, I applaud LP for being honest about the X650. It is a bit strange that they are still selling them but recommending us not to buy them (I suspect that they are not selling them now although their web page lists them as in stock).

The US dive equipment industry is operating illegally in my opionion. They price fix. In Europe they don't do this (probably since they have less lawyers) so LP buys them at competitive prices in Europe and elsewhere. When we buy from LP we can take advantage of that.

This post is so wrong!!!!!! You just accused LP of selling counterfeit ScubaPro regs on a list with 14,000 members. We could start with libel and slander....... that's what I say. You need to get a clue.

One of the advantages that an authorized dealer has (in theory) is a direct line of communications to the manufacturer. There have been several times when a manufacturer issued retrofit kits for a design change without a recall. Dealers get the info and the parts while non-dealers might not even have a clue that anything is going on.

Since SP doesn't want LP selling their stuff, and I do think they have that right, they don't feel obligated to tell them anything.

I do think that the manufacturers need to level the playing field to give dealers a chance but I also believe they have the right to decide who will represent them and their products.

It seems that more than a few manufacturer don't wan't to be represented by LP.
