I realize that a LP 95 and a HP 119 are similar, but is there any reason to chose one over the other if price is comparable and the same manufacture. Does one have better buoyancy characteristics than the other, does one trim better than the other.

I am not concerned about fills, I can get overfills, so my interest is mainly in the way they handle. So if all things are equal, which (if either) is better?

Not much different until you leave FL. At my local quarry, you'll get 2600 in LP tanks and about 3200 in HP's (after they cool).

Don't get me wrong, there are shops that will give you "good" fills on either but not every place will. If money is no object, go HP. LP's are cheaper, if I were only diving in FL or the knew that I could get good fills every time, I would save the money and go with LP's.

My $.02

The biggest concern is the fill. Not every place will over fill them. If fills aren't a problem then go with the 95's. LP95's are about 6lbs. lighter!

Depends on the 95.

If you compare the Worthington 95 and X8-119, they weigh the same, are virtually identical in dimensions and hold virtually the same volume at a 3600 psi cave fill. In that case the X8-119 makes more sense as it will get you 123 cu ft at 3442 psi anywhere while getting an LP 95 overfilled to the same capacity is a little harder to do. I can get 3000 psi in S. FL and in some shops in NC and VA, but everywhere else I am lucky to get more than 2400 psi. At 3600 psi double 95s hold 259 cu ft, at 3000 psi they hold 216 cu ft, at 2640 psi they hold 190 and at 2400 they hold 172 cu ft, so the difference is significant.

That said, for 1 more pound and another 1.5" in length, you can go with X8-130s and get another 17 cu ft of gas per set of doubles at the rated pressure.

At the other extreme Faber 95s weigh 38 pounds compared to 42 pounds for Worthington LP 95s/X8-119s, so you save about 8 pounds per set of doubles and for some divers that makes a great deal of difference.

Depends on the 95.

Good point, I'm only familiar with Worthington cylinders.

I know that Fabers are different with respect to both buoyancy and empty weight.

I forgot to mention that they were Fabers. I can get 119's or 95's for the virtually the same price, only $10 more for HP. (job discount) I'm guessing that there really isn't any difference if trim, etc. I appreciate the quick responses, this is sort of time sensitive. I will probably have to make a decision by the weekend or the deal may expire.

there will be difference in buoyancy I would look that up then see how much weight on land you will be carring for you belt and the tank /tanks.
