I got about 3' (1m) away from one of them hovering in a current in Wolf island, Galápagos. I had my BCD on a leash that was hooked on a rock, so I was hovering in the current next to it. Took a few minutes of GoPro video what I thought was a pretty good video of it, until I came back to the boat & found out that my mini SD card was corrupted, which resulted in no video. :(

I had one come by so close that its wingtip passed about a foot in front of my nose. No camera, of course.
 
Just leaving the island after a weekend trip. In 6 dives I was lucky enough to see Eagle Rays on every dive except last night at Paridise. Yesterday afternoon at the Gardens saw around a dozen, it was very nice no one was charging at them with GoPro's and they would just drift by as gentle giant's
