Generally I agree with those comments but looking at the setup it is not clear that this would qualify as an actually dumb thing to do, provided one kept some situational awareness.

It could just as easily have been a freak accident, granted, but that said: where does situational awareness end and stupid begin?

Probably a blurry overlap with no clear break and the line moves around from day to day.

Looks like at least a meter of overhang, probably more.

The lights disturb me. We lose a couple of people a year in pool electrocutions from bad lighting.
 
Does anyone else notice the shaking hand that holds the ring? Could be a sing of hypoxia?


Either way, so sad. Our sport is cruel in a way that sometimes you go from the happiest holiday moments to worst life tragedies. Especially in cases like this. This makes me so sad.
