Bummer - My new bag lacks the magic of the old one. Two of us only took 6 keepers in 2 dives yesterday at the honey hole. Viz was only about 6-8 feet too. I did, however, hold a personal best in my hand for a fleeting moment before flipping it only to see eggs! It was about 1/8 inch shy of the max mark. And it wasn't even in a hidey hole when I nabbed it.

The Plymouth harbormaster inspected our catch as we were waiting at the boat ramp. They told us that last year they caught a boat with 167 lobsters, with 59 shorts. There was no limit last year, but it's a $50 fine for each short. I hope it was an expensive day for those jerks.

I hope that was a lobster boat, not a group of divers...167 bugs...wow!!

Speaking of finding lost gear. First dive at STB I snapped my tickle inside a lobster hole after getting a little too excited or maybe the bug ripped it off. I ended up holding only the back part in the my hand. End of next dive, I noticed the part that I broke off sitting on the bottom outside the same lobster's lair. Imagaine finding that same lobster's hole on a second dive in 18 feet of water with 10 - 12 foot max viz! This time, we got the better of him, though. But, I still need a new tickle stick.

No, it was a boat full of lobsters and divers.

I can imagine you going back at the lobster with your broken tickle stick - "Say hello to my leetle friend" :m16:

Why don't you do what I did when I dropped my store bought stick getting into a boat: Go to Home Depot, buy a length of aluminum tube, cut it down, pound the end flat and give it a bend, drill a hole for a loop on the other end, and a tape grip.

Viola- a new teeckle steek. I think it cost me 4 bucks.

Yeah, that stick worked nice but it wasn't very sturdy--broke twice. 2nd time was fatal. I'll probably go w/ a homemade one this time. I still have the landyard(sp?) from the broken one and plan to incorporate that into the homemade. What length and diameter aluminium pipe?

I think there's 3/8 and 1/2 inch options, and they come in 4 foot lengths.

The other "customization" was some red tape 16 1/2 inches apart on the shaft. You lay the stick down next to a summer flounder to see if it's a keeper.
