I have an engraved "dog tag" made for my camera and Shearwater computer with my name and phone number on it. If I lose either, hopefully some good soul will call me.

Tell me more. Size? Maternal? Placement?

Attention GoPro owners...and other small cameras...A much simpler solution exists...as has been endlessly posted herein. Just shoot a single frame showing your, “If found, please contact...” information. Oh yeah, one last bit of advice. Don’t erase that frame.

When I dive, everything I take with me is tied or clipped to my BC or to me. The only thing I ever unclip while I am in the water is my SMB when I am inflating it, and then, of course, it floats.

Was surprised to not see the latest televised journey to the bottom of the Blue Hole in Belize wasn’t littered with GoPro’s...

Works great as long as the battery isn’t completely dead, and there’s a GoPro dedicated (to the particular model) changing cable or battery charger available. I have neither and keep hoping someone will describe what I have found.
That’s just awesome, Gordon. This person apparently didn’t.

Sorry, @Divingblueberry. That’s not the one I found. Hope somebody chimes in with yours!

If it's on the memory card, then it shouldn't matter if the battery is completely dead. Especially with a model that doesn't have a back screen. I would require the finder to take the memory card out of the unit and put it in a computer, though. I'm not so sure I would do that without a strong anti-virus program running on my computer.

I'm pretty sure the GoPro stores images the same way other digital cameras do - in non-volatile memory. Running the battery down doesn't erase it.
