Looking to meet local Divers in or around Port Huron, Michigan...
I am still pretty much a newbee O/W - 1/06, but am really excited to gain some experience.... Anybody got any ideas....
LDS is pretty good but with the weather we have had; he is pretty backed up with students...
Thanks, looking forward to some suggestions

Welcome! Most people just post something like "Hey, I'm looking for a buddy for insert dive site on insert date" here in the GLWC section and if anyone is free they'll let you know. Whenever you see dives posted and you can go just let the person who posted know. I've found that it's usually a good idea to exchange cell phone numbers in case something happens (running late/got lost/etc). You're more than welcome to join in the GLWC meet & greet (M&G) that's in the planning stages. I'll be posting information pretty soon about an underwater pumpkin carving dive Sat Oct. 28 and you're more than welcome to come to that as well. Both are a ton of fun and no need to bring your own buddy, there are plenty to go around.

You have some excellent diving right in your "back yard". I do a lot of diving in the st. clair river. I would suggest that you do some dives off the boardwalk down in the city of St. Clair first (the current is slower) before you try Port Huron. I may be going there next week for a "after work" dive, if you would like to join us I will let you know when.

That sounds great....
I had heard that St. Clair was a good place to start diving the river.... but I'll be in Tobermory on Vacation, no diving :( (no buddy, wife doesn't dive) but certianly will be scoping things out.
I work in Marysville so St. Clair is not that far for an after work. Thanks...

I'm planning on diving some wrecks in the North Channel this Sunday with a group from another forum, if you're interested.

Could you give me some info on the wrecks that are in the North Channel?

We're planning on diving the Nellie Lyon again (see my webpage and the scubaboard thread for specific info on this), and we might dive on some of the unidentified wrecks that are in the area. I have a full boat right now. There is a group from lakestclair.net that is meeting us out there with their own boat.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know there are wrecks in the North Channel. I will try to get out there before the "season" ends. P.S. Thats an nice web site you have there!
