looking to do cavern

I did PADI Cavern and then crossed over to NSS without any issues. You just have to accept that you will most likely be changing instructors. I personally like trying different instructors. It broadens your experience and you pickup different things from each. So I don't see that as a negative, while I can understand why others might. Also, many don't go beyond Cavern so it may not matter anyway...

But to answer, Yes. Of course, PADI recently increased the standards for their cavern class to get closer in line with the major cave agencies courses, so it may even be less of an issue.

why are you getting rid of it?

My whole rig is set up DIR, and was going to use the same rig for re-doing my class, which I took a few years ago, for Cavern. I was going to also do full cave, Intro next, and use the 6' hose for my single tank for cavern, and my 7' for my doubles, and take the intro to full cave in doubles, even though I'm all ready Intro certified, but I been out of doing the cave thing for the past several years, and If I was going to get back into it, I bought the 6' DIR hose , with there hose kit, SPG and inflator hose.

I decided not to get back into the cave diving for now, because it would require me buying alot of gear that I had, and sold, all over again, and I just invested over
$7K into a DSLR set up, and am looking to get CCR rebreather certified next spring, I'm currentley SCR rebreather certified on two differnet units, and owned two of them.

The last time, we had did just the loop from the ear to the eye at Ginnie, and it was fun!

Now I just have to get re-certifed again and do some diving with ya!

Hey Jean, how's it going?

I dove Ginnie with you a couple of months back. We went up the Rollercoaster and came back down the mainline. I know you dive with a bunch of people so you probably still don't know who this is?

It sounds like you're getting the diving straightened out, the classroom can be done anywhere.

As far as training and equipment go, I would do the cavern class with the minimum amount of equipment purchases that you can (that doesn't mean skimp though). In practice, my suggestion would be to use a UK D8 (buy used for $40) an LED backup light (Dive Rite makes a good one) and a 7' hose (not 5' or 6'). Then after the class decide if cave diving is for you and plan training and equipment from there. Find the divers and instructors that are ahead of you in the journey and get their input.
