Cool pictures! I'm getting more and more physcd about diving in PS by the day. How big was the octopus in the first few pictures? Why did you take the picture of the dead crab? Or was he just sleeping!

I take pictures of everything when I am down below the surface. Having a digital camera, I take as many photos as I can then get rid of the ones I don't like or did not turn out.

As far as the Ocoto goes, he is a good size one. He lives under a sunken boat at Redondo. The small octos can be found anywhere there. They seem to be content being out in the open.

Had a great time with him. In one of the pictures, he inked me so I took a picture of that.

What the heck is this!?!//http://www.ados.com/~liv/Scuba%20Diving%20Pictures/February%202004/Les%20Davis%20&%20Titlow%20Feb%2017,%202004/target44.html

I got to hold one of these (or very similiar) in Kauai. Had never seen anything like it before, very cool!http://www.ados.com/~liv/Scuba%20Diving%20Pictures/October%202004/Alki%20Cove-Alki%20Pipeline%2010-10-04/target13.html

http://www.ados.com/~liv/Scuba%20Diving%20Pictures/October%202004/Alki%20Cove-Alki%20Pipeline%2010-10-04/target45.html You like to torment the poor crabs, don't you!? Just curious, do they ever get you back? Do neoprene gloves offer any protection if they get your finger?

Amazing! http://www.ados.com/~liv/Scuba%20Diving%20Pictures/September%202004/Barview%209-10-2004/target6.html

What kind of camera do you use?

I used to torment the crabs by picking them uP like that. Till one day I seen the biggests rock crab I have ever seen. I picked him uP and checked his underside to find out if he was a male. Thats when he took his monster claws and clamly lached onto my right thumb for 10 or 20 seconds. I was no kidding screaming into my reg. He finally let go taking my pride with him. My neoprene gloves didnt offer much protection from him. My thumb was numb for a week and highly swollen.

Now i only pick uP the small craps, but when I see a big one I swim by and tap (or smack):whack: one in the top of its head so it starts to challenge my flash light. Always good for a laugh...

Yea yea I know I shouldnt pick:1poke: on the crabs like that, but really they started it!:angel_2:

It's a moon snail ... and believe it not they can manage to stuff all that body back into that itty-bitty shell ....

JasonH20:

Those are opalescent (market) squid ... and quite common in Puget Sound. As you're diving you'll come across piles of white tubular egg casings ... it's amazing to watch them building that pile. Each female squid lays one egg casing, which contains about 80-100 eggs. The other females in the school just add to it until you get this huge cluster. There was a "squid orgy" at Cove 2 a couple months back that went on for about two weeks, with the result being probably a couple thousand egg casings all attached together.

Brittle star ... quite common in places with silty bottoms like Cove 2 and Les Davis. Careful picking them up or all you'll get is a piece of arm ... :11:

Yes, red rock crab have powerful pincers and a bad attitude. I once got "nailed" by one ... hurt like hell. Thought I'd be pulling a bloody stump out of my glove by the end of the dive. Not so ... my thumbnail turned black, but I didn't lose anything. BTW - tastiest crab I ever ate. Payback, ya know ... :D
