Dive buddy and I will be diving with 3 days in March with Pompano Dive Center and looking for some place to lay our heads.

Not looking for anything fancy ideally looking for something less than $100 per night.

Just looking for someplace that is clean, safe, and quite. WiFi and Pool/Hot Tub are nice perks but certainly not a deciding factor.

Also we will have a car so if it is a bit off the beaten path that is okay.

Clean, safe, quiet and under $100 per night is a difficult combination during snowbird season. You might be able to put all three together in the summer. I'd call Pompano Dive Center and see if they have any package deals: I know Gold Coast Scuba does in Lauderdale by the Sea (about 3 miles south).

There a Super 8 on US 1 a bit north of Atlantic. Looks kind of dumpy on the outside, but I am sure it is less than $100.00 per night. Pompano Dive Center is pretty close by: the area is not bad, but not fantastic either. Not sure if really is very quiet or not.

Geez... the Super 8... that's like the scabrous former infamous Knight's Inn up there in West Palm Beach that lots of thrifty divers used to visit. It was cheap, and it was cheap. If you just piled up used fast food wrappers and empty drink containers in the backseat of your car, then it was better than sleeping in your car.
Since you have a car, use TripAdvisor and punch in different cities like Oakland Park and the like to see what's available. Going towards Executive Airport on both Commercial and Cypress, there are lots of places that are better than sleeping in your car.
The Super 8? Well, it's really close to Federal Highway.

Fort Lauderdale budget motel: the Holiday Park Hotel in Deefield Beach and Boca Raton, discounted rates off I-95 and the Florida Turnpike

Ah yes, I was waiting for Brian to mention the Holiday Crack Hotel. Besides serving as a dive base, you can also make valuable connections in filling your out-of-state prescription needs for Oxycodone and other life-enhancing drugs that a lot of physicians seem to have reservations about prescribing.
I do find the Holiday Crack to be particularly useful when I'm going to the Home Depot right near there. The driving dead from Cemetery Village (translation: elderly post-senior citizens waiting to die at Century Village) going east on Hillsboro always have a hard time getting through the light on 12th Avenue at the Mobil station, so cutting through the "Hotel" parking lot saves some aggravation if you don't break an axle on the road surface.
Clicking Brian's link goes to a great-looking place that sounds pretty nice. Where is that? I bet those tricky web developers could make Syria look like Shangri-La.
The Bistro 1250 listed on the site was actually a terrific Italian restaurant, but it's been gone for 8 months.

You get what you pay for and buyer beware are absolutely tools you need when looking for a room anywhere near the beach around Ft. Laud. Try hotel.com and pray.

I posted that for your benefit Tom :)

It's not such a bad place to stay, 2.5 stars on tripadvisor and the people I know that stayed there said they felt they got what they paid for.
