Hi! It looks like I'm going to have some time off of work in early November. I've been certified for about 4 months now, and I've done all of my diving to date here in the cold waters off Cape Ann, MA and I'd like to head somewhere warmer. It looks like hurricane season in the Caribbean, and I only have 7-10 days total, so many Pacific destinations are out.

So, my question is: Does anyone have any good ideas as to where to head? I'd like to get a chance to try out all of the conditions we don't have around here: good visibility, warmer water , tropical fish, etc.

Thanks so much!!

Shana

Hi Shana,

The hurricane season is about over in Nov so the odds are in your favor. If you want to stay in the US, then try the Keys. If you want to travel, look at Bonaire. They have great diving and are below the hurricane belt so storms are not an issue, other than flying around them.
try www.infobonaire.com for some info

Bonaire is always a good choice no matter what time of the year. Also Cozumel is a really good value during the month of November. While technically the final month of Hurricane season, the probability of a hit is very low during November (as opposed to the peak months of August Setember and October)

I have gone to Cozumel the last two years during November and have experienced perfect weather and water conditions and gotten outstanding deals. Two years ago, we flew Funjet from DFW and got the Allegro AI for under $300 per person (including flight) Last year we burned off some Continental miles and got the PLG for $50 per night taxes included through Funjet (They had the Hotel Meson for only $9 a night during the same period).

To top it off, the water was 84 degrees in the middle of November and I was able to gamble on college football at the Sports book down town. As it is off season, you can get good deals in town as well as the crowds are much smaller than the peak months.

Just checkout the carribean section. But by far the Cayman Islands are warm water, tons of marine life, great vis year round and only a hour flight from Miami. We have never been disappointed on any of our trips to the Caymans, but can not say that about Cozumel or Bonair. Early November is still their slow season. Check out Divetech if you plan going to Grand Cayman, wished we would of found them years ago, they are first class.
