Hey all,

I'm looking for a dive-focused resort that is also luxury in topside accommodations. I''ll be bringing a group of 14-20 divers with me. Not looking for a live-aboard. Likely traveling in September provided dates are available. Where is my best overall diving opportunities come September in Indonesia which is accessible by boat from land-based resorts? Thanks!

I presume that you mean September 2018 and O take it that you are looking for a top end resort. A lot repends on what the divers want to see....if it is big things then Komodo is very good at that time....Komodo Resort and Diving Club , as is Lembeh , NAD or Lembeh Resort, for macro. It's mola mola season in Bali so look at Tauch Teminal or Gangga resort or Scuba Seraya .

Look into Siladen near Bunaken National Park (fly to Minado and boat over).

The diving is outstanding. The resourt is luxury and friendly. They have topside excursions but I didn't partake as I was there to dive. But i recall volcano climb, jungle hikes, dolphin watch,...

Misool Eco Resort has GREAT diving (it is in the south end of Raja Ampat) and top-end accommodations. All the dives are a short boat ride from the land resort. You might say it combines the best of a LOB with a land resort.

Not cheap though! BEAUTIFUL environment, and they spend a significant of their (i.e. your) money on environmental protection.

Not sure if September is a good month for them though....

Wakatobi has that certain reputation doesn't it?

I've seen then Pelagian but not the resort - nice boat...seen better,..I'd like to see the resort but cost benefit analysis after talking to friends who have done the whole private jet pick up from Bali thing v absolute quality of diving hasn't completely swayed me yet. Am I allowed to say it has "wank" factor?

Hehe, never heard of "wank" factor. The place is definitely posh. Good place to bring non diving spouse, honeymooner, etc. Service, the bungalows and food were great when I was there in 2009. I just a bit disappointed for the lack of pelagic.

I just returned from the Maldives. My impression: Indonesia for the little stuff, if you want pelagics go to the Maldives. Manta rays, spotted eagle rays, with tip and black tip sharks, tuna, grouper,.. Sadly no whale sharks.
