Big thanks to all beta testers — and especially Chip — for the valuable feedback! I'm excited to share that I Dream of Diving has officially launched: idreamofdiving.com.

I built this app because, while some people like AI to do all the thinking for them, I prefer to stay in control when planning my dive trips. I figured others might feel the same — so this tool is for anyone who wants a bit more flexibility, transparency, and control when organizing their next dive adventure.

With I Dream of Diving, you can:
  • Explore which dive regions are best for your travel season.
  • Avoid tropical storm seasons.
  • Filter dive sites by your preferred sea temperatures.
  • Quickly find nearby airports and search for flights to your chosen region.
  • Apply tons of useful filters: arrival dates (great for liveaboards), layover times, total flight duration, preferred airlines, and more.
And if you're like me and used to juggle spreadsheets to compare options — you won't need them anymore. You can favorite flight connections, compare them side-by-side, and easily build your ideal trip plan.

The service runs on a pay-what-you-want model. Everyone gets plenty of free searches up front, and if you find the app useful, any contributions help me keep it running.

If you mean the dive sites, they are compiled from four different sources. I've also put in quite a lot of effort in fixing some of the errors in the data. You'd be surprised how many dive sites there are at 0 latitude, 0 longitude...

I then enrich the data with sea water temperature data from the Copernicus Marine Service.

Thank you very much. I have been collecting diving sites for my application for over 10 years but I have not yet come across an open API. I made my own and opened it up for diving centers. It happened yesterday)))

Looks very nice. If you end up compiling a list of diving center locations (e.g. the ones using your API), let me know and I can add them to my app and maybe drive more business towards them.

Very good idea. Thanks for the suggestion

I mentioned it here. If you need diving cents, it is available in the Google Maps API
