Hi: I just spent a month in Kona and did 11 dives with Wanna-Dive-Kona. 6 pack boat that is truely not crowded and Steve and the dive guides are professional, and knowledgeable. In fact I've dove the past 6 or 7 years with them and plan on another 11 or 12 dives next year. Try them, You'll like them

kona honu is great i did 18 dives with them 4years ago including the manta dive very awesome, the owner lent us some tanks for a shore dive i will dive with them again

I second Wanna Dive Kona, a truly awesome experience when I was on Kona a few months back. Really laid back, friendly, and down to earth people. I would recommend Steve and his crew to anyone looking for an awesome dive experience while visiting the big island.

I've only been once a few years back so no experience with the others mentioned.

I went out with Jacks and they treated us very well. Rented some gear for shore diving and then did one morning boat and one afternoon/evening boat for the Manta dive.

This is great timing... I'm headed to Kona in July/August and I was planning to use Kona Honu and do their night manta ray dive, amongst other things. So far, of the shops I've contacted, they've been the most interactive and informative about their setup and other things that I asked about.

Another +1 for Jack's Dive Locker. My wife and I did a 2-dive Discover Scuba with them last week (my wife has never dived before, I've gone before but never went for my certification... though want to now) and they were great. They made her feel very comfortable and at ease despite her initial fears and trepidation.

Our dive boat was 6 novices and 3 certified divers, with 3 divemasters (our instructor Sven, Mark, and Jeff with the certified divers). They treated us all really well, talked a lot about where we were going, what we were going to see/saw, offered tips/encouragement, and were very helpful and positive overall. My wife had such a great time that she's considering certification as well!
