What is your budget?

Some options other than Cozumel:

Reef House Resort on Roatan. It's several hundred dollars cheaper than Cocoview - $1050 vs. $1349 since CCV calls July high season next year. Both have good shore diving options also. Roatan Diving, Reef House Resort, Scuba Vacations, Dive Vacations, Roatan Dive Resort

Fantasy Island is another option - just across the channel from Cocoview. They've gone thru several management/ownership changes in the last several years so IDK what the current status of the resort is. Some friends stayed there several years ago at a really bargain rate but said the resort needed a lot of maintenance. You have to contact them for a rate quote.

If you're not committed to the AI idea, you might price options in the West End. Decent accommodations are as cheap as $50/nt - per room not pp. and dives are $10/300 or less. You won't get as many dives as with the south side AI's but Coconut Tree Divers does 4/day plus 2 night dives per week. There's no decent shore diving in that area. I have friends who spent a month on Roatan for $1500 + diving. I rented a 3BR house nearby for a week for that. We dove with CTD all week.

An AI option nearby is Anthony's Key Resort - their Hill Standard room is $1179 AI, but waterfront on the Key starts at $1500. They have the Dolphins there.

Deep Blue Resort on Utila might be an option. They have a special rate in July - $850pp d/o. Full AI since they're 5 mins. by boat from town. It will cost you $100 extra to get there by ferry from Roatan - it's doable both ways on the same day. Deep Blue Utila - swim with whale sharks at our all inclusive resort. Utila, Bay Islands, Honduras Details on the ferries are on their site. We were able to get to Roatan just after noon and be on Utila by 5pm. Laguna Beach Resort nearby has a few more amenities (pool, better beach, etc.) for $300 more pp. Both have shore dives off the property.

Personally I rate Utila diving slightly better than Roatan. There's also the outside chance to snorkel with whale sharks there in July.

Budget is not Grand Cayman. Sunset House is $1600 per week breakfast only. They're close enough to town that you could walk to dinner. Good sandwiches at My Bar there for lunch. Cobalt Coast is the other AI. It's $2230 full AI/wk. Both have the advantage of included shore diving off their property or nearby - CC has two shore dive locations and will shuttle you between them. CC is also more isolated on the NW side - 20 mins. to town.

Check out Dive St. Vincent. We Don't do the AI thing but there are great packages that include Lodging and diving. Most of the diving you do will be on a small boat with a group size of less than 6 and quite possible just you! Food a beer is cheep here as well. To give you an idea it's about $1.75 Usd a beer here every where you go. So if you want to get out of the main stream and check out the Critter Capitol of the Caribbean Give us a call. Or feel free to PM me. Good luck on your trip!

I have been diving in Holguin Cuba for the last 3 years and I would have trouble suggesting any another diving destination that offers more value. Beautiful reefs and fish, cheap to dive. Friendly people. I have been staying at the Playa Pesquero (rated 4.5 star hotel) all inclusive. Nice place. As with all other hotels in Cuba, food is fine cuisine but it's ok. The dive shop is a 10 minute easy walk from my room. You leave all your gear at the dive shop. Very safe. I noticed that a lot of the divers seem to be coming back every year. Best kept secret, please don't tell anyone.

Check out Brac Reef Beach Resort on Cayman Brac or its sister facility Little Cayman Beach Resort on Little Cayman. I've been to the Brac and really enjoyed my stay. Haven't been to LCBR, but understand it's very similar. Both offer all inclusive option. Three dives a day, dive op on site, terrific diving. Brac is relatively easy to get to....LCBR a bit harder, as I understand its airport doesn't handle jets. The Brac sometimes offers specials that make it an even better deal.

Hi ,

The title is pretty much what im looking for...:D

I have allready been to Cozumel ...I do not mind going back it was great .......Hotel sugestion's??

Put it this way ...I would like to scuba dive for the whole week with my son ..He's 13...Yes he is a cetified diver ...And he love's it ....I'm trying to find somthing to fit my budget......!

In the south of Egypt there is a very good but very basic "diving camp" run by Red Sea Diving Safaris. Accommodation is very basic, there's no night-life aside from nearby hotels and/or a bedouin tent where you can have a drink and smoke the water pipe if you want, but the food is good, the place is clean, the diving is super (you can dive with or without a guide and there are zodiacs available) and dive operations are well organized.

You seem to be looking for a hotel and this place is definitely not that. It's more like a diving camp with room and board. I personally love it but I like rustic travelling in general. Maybe it's an alternative anyway, since it's cheaper than the hotels.

....LCBR a bit harder, as I understand its airport doesn't handle jets.

Until they paved the runway, it just about handled goats. "Little Cayman Route 1" doubles as the taxiway. My favorite airport. :)

But it's really not that much more trouble to get to Little Cayman. And unless you have booked a Cayman Airways flight direct from US to the Brac, you could easily wind up on a small plane for the last leg to there too. LCBR also runs some good specials certain times of the year. Probably won't ever get as inexpensive as some of the other ideas people have mentioned though, it's still Cayman.

Duke,

If you are looking for "all you can eat all you can drink" my suggestion would be either the Allegro or Occidental in Cozumel. Solid food and definitely all you can drink included in the price. Many other places say on Roatan, Utila or the Caymans have all you can eat but you would have a bar bill. My favorite is Little Cayman Beach Resort as the food is excellent as are the dives. Far better than the sister hotel on Brac having been to both.
