$13 for air is a little higher then most on LI. What shop charges that?

Where do the local First Responders, that have river/lake rescue/recoveries, get their air?

These are the places they go to for fills. These are the same places your LDS goes to for your hydros. Not all of them deal with scuba or scott pack tanks but the ones that do can also fill your tanks. If you have a LDS giving you BS about not wanting to fill older tanks then go to one of these locations. They are all DOT regulated and they do not require VIP stickers.

I am a local volunteer fireman in NJ - we have a cascade system with 6000 lb bottles - in my case the fire company does not mind me filling my tanks I am qualified with our cascade system... However they would blow a gasket if I started filling public tanks (they have told me so) - Liability seems to be the biggest issue - so you may need to find a member and ask politely to see if they could help you out - or ask if you can make a donation to the fire company (annual donation?) for some air...
Good Luck...
