Fred T plates are terrific. He certainly can create a range. Additionally, the stacking of similar plate bends works too (as previously mentioned). In the end you may find that it is necessary to have a number of plates to work with. My personal collection includes 7 different plates. Two are permanently attached to rebreathers. There are some plates to stay away from too. The slotting geometry can actually make a plate ride goofy on these plates + other weirdnesses. PM if you are interested in the less-than-desirable ones. Sorry. I don't want to unintentionally impugn a product/manf. since my evaluation(s) aren't based on any standard other than personal or anecdotal experiences using these things. I will say that I have had decent experiences with the following:

Fred T
Halcyon (wish it had more side holes)
Hammerhead (standard)
OMS - needed to widen crotch strap slot
Diverite

X- out.

dirthead:
I just bought a 1/4" thick SS plate from FredT that weighs 12 pounds. He has several thicknesses available, along with STA's and other stuff, and the price is very good. Not sure where you are located, so shipping heavy items like that could be costly. Send him a pm if you are interested. His stuff is top notch.

Is he back to the business?

Hammerhead's Steel plate is according to them the thickest one on the market, and it already has single tank slots as well as many other attachment points. Their one-piece STA is also very heavy. I believe both of them together weigh in at about 12 lbs. You might also take a look at oxycheq for wings and other stuff to.
Andrew

Hammerhead STA's are quite thick, but the website doesn't show that it's shaped to exactly fit the HH plate. On plates with wider spines it sits up on its edges, moving the tank further away from your back. I've left messages with the owner to ask if he would make some plain flat-bottomed STA's but have not heard back.
