Here's the pic below, looking for something that won't be dangling 6-7" from my body like this current setup. Also, is it appropriate to have to secured by a closed quick link like in the picture, my thought process is, it should never come off, so why use double ended bolt snaps, but I'm open to criticism

I have never seen anyone attach a canister light like that before..... So I'm clear, you're suing a quicklink attached to a piece of bungee, attached, to webbing, jubilee clamped to the canister?

Typically either two jubilee clamps, or one with a loop of bungee through a loop on the canister side webbing allow the canister to be attached to the wait belt of the harness. See the picture below:

Is the bungee and the webbing on the canister long enough, and stretch enough, to go around the bottom of the canister?

Dude, you're a genius, it was long enough to go under the bottom and back up. I'm still using the quicklink though, not sure if that is proper or not, but yeah it completely took out all that slack. When I put it together like above in the picture I was like "yeah this is wrong"

Yeah, the quicklink is unnecessary, did it come with it? I can only think they did that so it gives you something to grab onto when the bungee is around the canister. The harness waist belt threads into the belt loop created when the bungee is stretched around the canister. It will go behind the harness d-ring. It doesn't attach to the d-ring. The bungee loop is so that you can take the canister off without having to unthread the d-ring.

Normally the belt loop is created with two of the screw clamps. You thread it on and use an extra belt release to hold it back against the backplate. A d-ring by itself usually won't hold it back.

I used to use that attatchment. It's a Dive Rite quick release can mount that is clamped to the can on the top and the bungee goes around the bottom leaving a belt loop between. This would allow you to easily attach or remove the can without undoing your waistbelt.

Wow, yeah I bought the whole canister/light used so I've been trying to figure out how to rig it. With that said Tug's link made me realize I was way overthinking how it was suppose to attach.
